JEPCC Executive Attends Suriname Presidential Inauguration; Conducts Business Series

Paramaribo, Suriname, local time, July 16th – Jennifer Simons was sworn in as President in Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, formally becoming the country's tenth President and first female head of state. Xiang Xiaobin, General Manager and Director of POWERCHINA Jiangxi Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. (JEPCC), attended the inauguration ceremony as a representative of Chinese enterprises, witnessing this historic moment.

Prior to this, Xiang Xiaobin, along with JEPCC’s Deputy General Managers Cao Xinsheng and Li Hualin, conducted a series of business activities in Suriname and visited the company's ongoing local projects for inspection.

On July 14th, Xiang Xiaobin and his delegation called on Lin Ji, the Chinese Ambassador to Suriname. Xiang Xiaobin expressed gratitude to the Embassy for its support and assistance to the JEPCC, reported on the company's international operations and business activities in Suriname, and stated that the company will advance follow-up project construction and business development under the guidance of the Embassy. Ambassador Lin Ji spoke highly of the company's achievements in Suriname, noting that the projects constructed by the JEPCC align with Suriname's national development needs. He encouraged the company to continue strengthening exchanges with the Embassy and the China Enterprise Chamber of Commerce and to contribute further to local development.

On July 15th, Xiang Xiaobin and his delegation met with David Abiamofo, Suriname's Minister of Natural Resources. Xiang Xiaobin firstly thanked the Ministry for its support and assistance, emphasizing that solving power supply issues in remote areas is a critical livelihood project. He affirmed that the company will ensure the Suriname Village Microgrid PV Project (Phase II) is connected to the grid and delivered on schedule. Minister Abiamofo commended the project and expressed hope that the company will continue to actively participate in Suriname's renewable energy projects, empowering the country's energy transition with advanced technology and solutions.

On the same day, Xiang Xiaobin and his delegation held talks with Leo Brinswijk, Chief Executive Officer of Suriname's state-owned power company, N.V. Energie Bedrijven Suriname (EBS). Xiang Xiaobin thanked EBS for its trust and support, introduced the company's overall operations and business activities, and expressed the desire for continued deepened cooperation and mutual benefit. CEO Brinswijk outlined Suriname's future power development plans, stating that the country is advancing its green and low-carbon energy transition. He expressed hope for strengthened practical cooperation to jointly promote green environmental governance and renewable energy development in Suriname.

During the stay in Suriname, Xiang Xiaobin and his delegation visited the Suriname Village Microgrid Solar Project (Phase II) and the Suriname RAMME RESORTS Decoration Project for inspection, and held work meetings. Xiang Xiaobin emphasized the need to implement the company's core principles – market cultivation, customer orientation, green development, efficiency, and brand building – along with compliance awareness. He stressed actively fulfilling the responsibilities of a central state-owned enterprise, deepening market development and project execution, to support the company's sustainable and high-quality development in the local market.
