Jiangxi Electric Power Construction Corporation Ltd. (JEPCC) has recently been awarded a three-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract for the 140 MW wind farm in Tangier, Morocco. Located in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region of northern Morocco, the wind farm has a total installed capacity of 140 MW, comprising 165 wind turbines each of 850 kW. Upon its commissioning in 2010, it was the largest wind farm in Africa and the first along the Mediterranean coast to meet European technical standards. With an annual electricity output of approximately 556.5 GWh, the facility can meet the yearly power demand of a city with 400,000 residents, accounting for 2.6% of Morocco's national electricity consumption. This contract marks JEPCC’s breakthrough into the North African market, demonstrating JEPCC’s technical expertise and brand influence in the field of new energy O&M. It also injects new momentum into JEPCC’s efforts to expand its global business footprint and support Morocco’s green energy development. By introducing advanced O&M technologies and management experience, JEPCC will help enhance the operational efficiency and stability of Morocco’s wind power assets, further increasing the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix. The project will also contribute to local professional training and job creation, stimulate growth across the related service chains, and provide a stable supply of clean green power—supporting Morocco in achieving its energy independence and carbon reduction goals, and advancing its strategic vision of becoming a sustainable development hub and a regional center for green energy. | |
